Blood At The Root
"Blood At The Root" by Dominique Morriseau directed by Renee Sutherland starring Nathaly Abreau, Lizzy Booth, Ben Frazer, Trishawn Paul, Kevoy Somerville, Ruby White, Kristin Aug, and Chris Fay
A striking new ensemble drama based on the Jena Six -- six Black students who were initially charged with attempted murder for a school fight after being provoked with nooses hanging from a tree on campus. This bold new play by Dominique Morisseau (Sunset Baby, Detroit '67, Skeleton Crew) examines the miscarriage of justice, racial double standards, and the crises in relations between men and women of all classes and, as a result, the shattering state of Black family life.
BLOOD AT THE ROOT opens Friday, September 10 with performances Fri. and Sat. nights at 8pm and Sun. at 2pm through September 18. Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 for students & seniors, available at the box office or online. There will be a free preview for area senior citizens on Thursday, September 9 at 8pm.
Please note: All ticket sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
