Scary Cow Presents: Immersive Video Performance with Brian Herczog
This workshop will cover the three major branches of contemporary video performance: projection mapping, live video triggering, and interactive installation
We will demonstrate their inclusion in theater, dance, and musical performance. After viewing a medley of online video content, participants will discuss the possible applications of these media to current filmmaking, and whether we may further the frontiers of experimental cinema. Finally, members will receive a hands-on tutorial with the latest in VJ projection-mapping software, and thus learn how their skills in video production can intersect with these evolving industries.
If you would like to actively participate in the workshop portion of this class, recommended items to bring:
- Laptop equipped with hardware and software below, and a VGA connector cable
PC- Windows 8, Windows 7, XP, or Vista: ATI Radeon 9600 or later. NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 or later. At least 2 GB of RAM.
Mac- Mac OS X 10.5 or later: Intel processor. Quartz Extreme compatible graphics card. At least 2GB RAM.

Originally from Los Angeles, Brian Herczog studied Philosophy through an undergrad and two graduate degrees, pursuing research on various topics in Hong Kong, Beijing, Honolulu, and London. More recent studies in Philosophy of Art led him to begin more practical applications of Experimental Cinema and New Media designs. Herczog is now working to create multi-screen cinema installations that allow viewers to explore a story-telling environment according to their own plot and character interests.
