COMM Lead public speaking workshop
Do you often need to present information at work or in class? Then please join us for a workshop on presenting information clearly and effectively. During this two hour workshop, we'll discuss strategies for organizing talks, go over some delivery tips, and practice short presentations for professional contexts. You should bring an outline for an 8-10 minute presentation to the workshop. Nothing elaborate, just something that you're currently working on for a class or a job. We'll develop and practice these presentations during our time. The workshop will be offered Thursday, 11/21 6-8 PM in CMU 126. Limit 24 participants. The workshop will be led by Dr. Matt McGarrity, a Senior Lecturer in the Communication Department at the University of Washington in Seattle. Matt teaches classes on public speaking, argumentation, debate, political humor, communication education, and the history of rhetoric. His free online public speaking course recently enrolled over 120,000 students from over 200 countries. He has won a number of teaching awards, including the National Speakers' Association's Outstanding Professor Award.
