Name Of The Game - A Rehearsed Reading
Bath Comedy Festival in association with Comedians' Theatre Company present a rehearsed reading of NAME OF THE GAME
Written by Steve Gribbin and Paul Ricketts
Name Of The Game is a brand new comic play being developed by Comedians' Theatre Company, and tells the compelling story of Lizzie Magie, inventor of the board game game that became known as Monopoly.
Hear the shocking story of how Parker Brothers along with Charles Darrow colluded to steal the basic idea from Lizzie Magie and how the story was basically hushed up until the publication of American journalist Mary Pilon's book "The Monopolists" in 2016.
Name Of The Game is a play about game-playing, both physical and mental, about ownership and idealism, about politics, power, and the nature of truth.
The all-star cast includes: Jen Brister as Lizzie Magie Tom Stade Ria Lina Allyson June-Smith David Mills and a very Special Guest!
"An excellent play, brimming with ideas and guile" - Nick Awde, The Stage
"A Cracking story, with a very clever political under-theme, with corking performances too!" - David Tyler, Pozzitive Productions, BBC Radio 4 Producer
"Brilliant. It inspired me" - Emiliano Galigani, Metro-polis Films
After the play, the actors will be presenting a "gang show" stand-up comedy special to make it an evening to remember!
Discount available when buying tickets to both the reading and the stand-up show which follows.
