8/20 A Belated Beethoven Celebration
MUSIC ON THE STRAIT 2021 (MUSICONTHESTRAIT.COM)
Ludwig van Beethoven's late work particularly the composer's last string quartets, the ninth symphony, and his late piano sonatas are among the most enduring and celebrated music ever composed. The incomparable Jeremy Denk returns to Music on the Strait to perform Beethoven's final piano sonata, composed when he could no longer hear the notes of his piano. The program opens with Beethoven's Op 9 No 1 string trio, full of lyrical beauty and brilliance. With this program, we honor and commemorate Beethoven's 250th birthday celebration delayed by one year because of COVID-19.
Program to include Ludwig Van Beethoven: String Trio in G, Op 9 No 1 (1799) Ludwig Van Beethoven: Piano Sonata in C minor, Op 111 (1822)
