New Lighting: Title 24 and its Impact on Architectural Lighting Design
2.5 HSW
Presented by: Dr. Saum K. Nour, PE, Ph.D., CIPE, CFPE, LEED AP, PE Civil, PE Electrical, PE Mechanical
The New California Energy Commission Lighting Title 24 will impact the aesthetics, number of fixtures, and reflected ceiling plans designed by the architect.
As before, the architect will be the signatory of the lighting design on the LTG 1 form. Therefore, the architect will remain a part of the Lighting T24. The adoption of the new code is more stringent, impacting LED lights, lighting controls, and equipment.
Since the Reflected Ceiling Plan is controlled by the architect and is designed in the early stages, the architect must be savvy of the New California Energy Commission Lighting Title-24and its impact on architectural details and notes. Lack of such data will cause major legal issues to the architect, especially with general contractors need for record keeping of construction materials.
Learning Objectives:
-Fast Review of the new code guidelines
-Review of important components of the code and essentials
-Areas of intensive coordination light fixtures, design, and lighting controls.
-Providing Rule of Thumbs for the Architect in laying out the lighting patterns to meet the Title-24.
