St Catherine's Presents - Anne Garrels
This virtual St Cats Presents lecture by alumna Anne Garrels (1969) is on June 14th. Anne will be joining us tlve from her home in Connecticut.
For almost 25 years Anne was the senior foreign correspondent for National Public Radio (NPR) in the US, reporting from Russia and the other Soviet Republics, the former Yugoslavia, the Middle East, China, Mongolia and Iraq. Before joining NPR she was the Chief Correspondent in Moscow and Central America for ABC and the State Department Correspondent for NBC. Anne won a Courage in Journalism Award from the International Women's Media Foundation in 2003 and in 2004 was awarded the George Polk Award for Radio Reporting for her coverage of the war in Iraq.
The author of Naked in Baghdad and Putin Country: A Journey into the Real Russia, Anne joins us to share her experiences of reporting from war zones and her career on the front line.
The lecture will start at 7.30pm and is free for adults and students.
