Into the Woods
When a childless baker and his wife set out to lift their family curse by journeying into the woods, they encounter Jack (with his beanstalk), Cinderella (and her prince) and Little Red Riding Hood (and her wolf)! These familiar characters find themselves in decidedly unfamiliar circumstances and must brave the darkness of the woods in an effort to break the curse, conquer their fears and find out if what theyve always wished for is what they truly want.
The Narrator introduces the cast of characters, each with a wish: the Baker and Bakers wife long for a child but cannot conceive, Jack desperately wishes his cow Milky White would once again provide milk so he wouldnt have to sell her, and Cinderella dreams of attending the kings ball and someday being free of her cruel stepmother and step-sisters. When all their tales, and the tales of other fairy tale characters, lead to the woods and become intertwined, dreams come true and wishes are granted. Their happiness has consequences, though, and the characters are forced to band together to save their world from destruction.
Into The Woods is a magical, imaginative adventure with a moral and point of view. Employing sophisticated artistry and innovative craft, the shows creators lead the audience on a journey to the darker side of fairy tales as they explore the pain of growing up, communal responsibility, and the values we pass on to our children.
