High flyin' experimental dub featuring members of John Brown's Body,G Love,Morphine and a host of other Boston madmen.
Led by drummer Tommy Benedetti (John Browns Body) and Johnny Trama (Ghosts of Jupiter) on guitar, Dub Apocalypse is an all-star combination of Boston's best musicians. Playing an impressive array of original dub reggae instrumentals, with wild improvisation and Benedetti's dirty break beats, this band never disappoints. Johnny Trama has been a staple in the areas music scenes for years, and his emotional blues driven guitar licks can send you soaring to the stratosphere. .
Tonights show features Professor SHUMAN! Also known as SHUMAN, he has toured and recorded with Hiphop's and one of music's most influential recording artists, Hiphop legend, [The Teacha] KRS-ONE.
SHUMAN teamed up with KRS-ONE to record a track for the Hiphop icon's 2003© Kristyles album (Koch Records) and for a homage remake of the classic "The Message 2002" for Hiphop producer, Soul Supreme's "Saturday Nite Agenda" (Grit Records).
SHUMAN has also toured with the amazing, jazz/soul/funk trio SOULIVE. And in 2002© recorded "Steppin' remix" for the trio's "Turn It Out" release (Velour Records).
His work stretches across a wide variety of music that always keeps the integrity of his rap style. An unbelievable live performer, SHUMAN takes it all the way on stage with his un-matched clarity on the mic, precision witty wordplay and crowd call and response techniques that keep the whole place rockin' from start until the end of his performance.
