Foraged Floral Design with Ann Mekala
Everwood Farmstead Foundation is proud to present the Artist Workshop "Foraged Floral Design" with Ann Mekala on Saturday, June 12th from 10 am - 2:30 pm!
This workshop will begin with introductions and some basic tenets of floral design and foraging. Participants will then freely roam Everwood in search of inspired materials. After lunch, the group will learn how to prep vessels and then create unique arrangements from what was collected. Throughout, Ann will circulate and offer guidance. At the end of the day, the creative collective will stand back to appreciate each arrangement and discuss principles to take home for future exploration. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
Ann grew up surrounded by flowers in a home beside a lake. She spent her summers in the garden and her winters buried in seed catalogs and old botanical books. Ann's work still tells the story of a tryst between garden and wild. Relying on materials that are often local and foraged, her colors, textures, and shapes reflect the beauty of the changing seasons. She has created designs for private dinners, lookbook shoots, restaurants, and weddings. And her Instagram account (@dearhyssop) is a must-follow.
The price for the Workshop is $80 a person (which includes beverages).
Participants should bring: * Picnic lunch * Comfortable clothes and sensible shoes based on the weather * Hand held pruning shears * Basket for foraging * Vessel for your arrangement
