Dyed Gourd Bowl with Pine Needle Rim
Guest Instructor Susan Lester.
The first question most people ask me when I say I do gourd art is What is a gourd? We will spend the first few minutes of class learning about what goes into the preparation of a gourd to make it ready for the many methods of art you can apply to this versatile vessel. The gourds we will be using in class are going to be cleaned and ready for you to dye and apply a pine needle rim to. Students will use gourd ink dyes and pigment powders for coloring their gourd bowls. Dyed and prepared pines for the rims will add the finishing touch. The bowls are approximately 5 to 6 inches in diameter.
Please bring a pair of small sharp scissors. All other supplies will be provided.
