SPEAKER: Kavita Kaur - Software Systems Engineer, JPL/NASA
Kavita Kaur will present an overview of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover mission - part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet. Perseverance takes remarkable technology to the next step by not only seeking signs of habitable conditions on Mars in the ancient past, but also searching for signs of past microbial life itself. Kavita will provide a narrative discussion together with amazing videos and images, followed by a a Q&A segment.
BIO: Kavita Kaur was born and raised in India. She holds a BE in Electronics and Electrical Communications from Punjab Engineering College, India, and worked in India for nearly 4 years in the telecommunications sector before immigrating to the US with her husband after marriage.
Kavita has had a long but rewarding career at JPL/NASA for 19 years since her graduation from California State University Northridge, with an MS in Computer Science.
Since joining JPL in 2002, Kavita has worked on the Deep Impact Mission, Phoenix Lander Mission, Mars Science Laboratory Mission, and is now currently a member of the Ground Data System team on the Mars 2020 Mission.
