Classic Stages: Stage I 2014
Do you love classical language? Want to speak and hear it with more specificity? Then join MARY STUART director Dan Hodge and the founding members of the PAC for a classical language and acting intensive.
If you've seen a PAC show, then you know what to expect: An emphasis on language and human intention. The pursuit of clarity, specificity, and humanity.
Our approach to classical acting is incredibly practical and accessible. It's based in a discrete understanding of the basic tools used in the writing (and original speaking) of this language: antithesis, speech structure, imagery, and more. Whether you're a professional actor looking for more classical expertise or an audience member interested in discovering even more in the language, training with us will empower you to hear and speak the verse of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Webster, and countless others. (We suspect it will heighten your awareness of contemporary language as well!)
No academic discussions here; just a moment-by-moment, thought-by-thought exploration of how to navigate verse (and prose), and how the living, breathing human beings found in these classical plays use language to its full extent.
