Director Statement 'Alta Vista' is a genre-bending coming of age film about Sam, a 30 year old writer who moves to Los Angeles after the death of his father. The Hollywood odyssey chronicles Sams odyssey through the underbelly of the film industry, leading to an unforgettable journey of hope, and renewed optimism.
'Alta Vista' is a love letter to my father, who passed away in October of 2017, after being diagnosed with stage IV cancer a few weeks prior. It is my wish that I connect with audiences across the world through the experience of processing death.
It's also my love letter to independent filmmaking, which I've been doing since my brother gave me his camcorder at the age of 10. Although this is far from my first feature film that I've written, directed, and produced, it's easily my most intimate and personal. It's also the first film we've created in Los Angeles, another dream of mine since I was a kid.
This film simultaneously represents my biggest dreams and biggest losses, and for that I'll always be grateful. It's full of passion, purpose, and commitment from everyone on the cast and crew, and together I'm excited to present our feature film, "Alta Vista."
