Jazz at The Green Room: Bert Seager & Rebecca Sullivan
Pianist Bert Seager & vocalist Rebecca Sullivan perform a duo in this exciting inaugural event in the new Jazz at The Green Room series.
Seager, a faculty member at the New England Conservatory of Music, has been a leading player and composer on the jazz scene in Boston since 1981. His albums have won him critical acclaim from the New York Times, Keyboard Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe and many other publications.
He has toured extensively in the United States and internationally, including over a dozen tours to Japan. He has performed and recorded with Joe Lovano, Tim Hagans, George Garzone, Bob Moses, Joe Hunt, Richie Barshay, John Lockwood, Kazumi Ikenaga, and countless others.
After establishing a reputation as an exciting new voice on the Chicago scene, Rebecca Sullivan relocated to Boston to enroll in the Contemporary Improvisation department at NEC. On her 2012 debut recording This Way, This Time, she appears in a duo with Chicago guitarist Mike Allemana, mixing affecting interpretations of infrequently heard standards by Frank Loesser, Johnny Mandel, and Hoagy Carmichael with boldly personal versions of songs by the Beach Boys, Nick Drake, and St. Vincent.
