AIAOC Emerging Professionals Committee Presents: Introduction to Construction Phase Services
Architects face their highest risk exposure during the construction phase. This course introduces some of the concepts of what should be done, what should not be done, and how to otherwise manage the project during construction to minimize the architects risks.
The course objectives include the following:
Understanding construction project organization. Managing RFIs. Managing Submittals. Interfacing with construction meetings and site visits. Managing construction changes. Maintaining construction phase records.

Presenter: Robert Larsen is a licensed architect with a Masters of Architecture degree from Iowa State University. Having worked for architectural firms, developers, operators, and contractors, he has a unique perspective of the architectural project management roles and processes. Much of Mr. Larsens career has focused on large-scale projects, which he has followed by living in eight different countries and eight different states. He presently provides consulting services to architectural firms to assist with their project management processes, staff training, quality control reviews, special projects, and problem projects. The following short courses are an extension of these services and are intended as a means for Mr. Larsen to share some of his knowledge gained through years of varied architectural project management experience.
