PARK(ing) Day Demonstration Webinar
Thursday, April 15, 2021 6 - 7 pm Free to all ASLA Members, Non-Members, Sponsors and Affiliates Online Webinar
Have you heard of the annual international event called Park(ing) Day? The intention of this one-day event in September is to demonstrate how much outdoor urban space is dedicated to private vehicles, rather than open public space for people. Since its inception in 2005, it has served as a form of "tactical urbanism", to design and install a small parklet over one or more parking spaces within a street right-of-way. It's also a lot of fun!
During April's World Landscape Architecture Month on April 15, the San Diego Chapter of ASLA is providing an evening webinar, inviting organizations to learn more about how to plan and install an impactful, successful, and legal Park(ing) Day event. Closer to the date of this year's Park(ing) Day event on September 17th, our Chapter will further promote all the individual parklets throughout San Diego County. The intention is to communicate this as a unified, larger effort, to boost the visibility and impact of this event.
Join us to learn more about how your firm or professional network can have fun designing and holding your own PARK-ing Day Event or work with the Chapter to develop our PARK-ing Day project that will take place on Friday, September 17 (location TBD).
Watch for a registration confirmation which will have our video link and phone # to join the April 15 webinar.
We hope to see you on April 15th!
