EAST 14TH: True Tales of a Reluctant Player By Don Reed
Don Reed (writer/performer/director) - has performed and written for film, television and the theatre to great acclaim. A recent 2008 NAACP Theatre Award Nominee for Best Actor & Best Playwright for East 14th, Don's performance and writing on a Robert Townsend HBO special of up-and-coming comedians years ago caught the attention of Bill Cosby and led to the creation of a guest-starring role for him on "The Cosby Show." Don went on to play the recurring role of Chip in "The Cosby Show" spin-off "A Different World" and was recently in "Bee Movie Shorts starring Jerry Seinfeld. He appeared on stage in The Key at Princeton's McCarter Theatre in a 3 person cast including Hector Elizondo and Jo Beth Williams. Don has also written and directed several short films for HBO/Russell Simmons/Stan Lathan, while concurrently writing on staff/creative consulting on half hour tv series. Don has performed all over the country and parts of the world, appearing at over 300 colleges, and opened for Tony Award Winner Tommy Tune. You may have heard Don's voice on: "Spiderman", "The Flintstones", "Johnny Quest" "ER", "Frasier", "Friends", "Scrubs", "Will & Grace", "Law & Order", "SNL", and The Golden Globes. Don has written/developed sceenplays with Spike Lee's 40 Acres and Mule Filmworks and Maverick Films.
