Marat Daukayev Ballet Theater presents - Getting to the Nutcracker - A special private screening
Please join us for this special private screening of the film "Getting to the Nutcracker," by Director Serene Meshel-Dillman.
As a family of the Marat Daukayev School of Ballet, you know intimately what it takes to get to opening night! But this film will give you a new perspective on everything.
Serene, a former dancer at the School of American Ballet and commercial television producer, became a member of our studio family last year and went behind the scenes of our Nutcracker. She and her cinematographer Senya, filmed everything from auditions to final performances and created this documentary film, "Getting to The Nutcracker". It shows us an intimate, behind-the-curtain view of our dancers, teachers and families. The film takes you inside the Herculean effort involved in gathering the resources, assembling the volunteers, casting the dancers, rehearsing and staging the performances of this classic ballet.
Narrated by Pamela Daukayev and featuring several of our wonderful dancers, you will hear about dancer's dreams and share their triumphs and countless unexpected turns. You see it all, from talented teen artists with a future in dance to the younger, sweet children excitedly taking their turns on the stage. And you will most likely catch a glimpse or several of your own wonderful children.
This is a private event for school families and their extended families and friends only. Space is limited to 160 people per show.
