West Coast Dancers & Salem Vineyard Church are launching their first dance conference!
This conference is a training event designed to enable congregations, dance teams and individuals to use dance as a form of worship. We also desire to equip dancers to bring this worship art form back to their own places of private and corporate worship in a healthy and balanced way.
Our speakers represent a variety of artistic expressions from up and down the West Coast, and possess a variety of theological perspectives on the use of dance in worship. Topics include: -the biblical and historical context of worship dance -how to use dance in intercession and prayer ministry -utilizing choreographed & improvisational movement, -flag dancing and other types of dance.
During the Saturday afternoon portion of the conference, we will send teams of participants into the city of Salem to do an outreach. This will give dancers a chance to apply what they have been learning about using dance as an art form and also as a ministry tool.
On Sunday morning, we will be joining the congregation at the Salem Vineyard during their worship service, providing a safe place for participants to practice incorporating dance in a congregational setting.
In addition to the Salem Vineyard Church, direction and support is also coming from East Vineyard in Silverton and Eugene Vineyard Church. While a number of Vineyard Association churches are assisting in the logistics of this event, this is a non-denominational event. Everyone who loves dance and is seeking to follow Jesus is welcome. The more, the merrier! ______________________________________________________________
