Oregon Dance Education Organization (ODEO) is proud to present the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A) Series, a series of online professional development workshops and panel discussion for dance educators and the dance community. Monthly sessions will feature leaders and experts from Oregon and the Pacific NW leading the way towards a more inclusive, equitable, diverse, and accessible dance community in Oregon.
ODEO is very honored and excited to have the following panelists contribute to this discussion: Brittain Jackson - Creator, Village Vibes podcast Phoenix Grey - West Coast Swing, working to degenderize the dance style Terra Lyn Anderson - Founder, Embody Emerge
IDEA Series #4: LGBTQ+, Rainbow Inclusive Dance Education With a brief review of the basics of LGBTQ+ inclusion practices, a majority of the session will be a discussion with artists and leaders from Oregon who are addressing LBGTQ+ rights and topics in dance. How does gender play into dance education and dance culture and how can those structures be opened up to be more inclusive? What policies and practices can program directors or dance instructors take to make their spaces safe for the LGBTQ+ community? What artists and works are leading the movement forward?
The views expressed in the presentation are those of the speaker(s) and do not constitute endorsement of ODEO.
Professional development and clock hours credit are available upon request.
All sessions will be online via Zoom - a meeting link will be provided in the registration confirmation email.
