Reducing Embodied Carbon with CO2 Mineralized Concrete
Presented By: CarbonCure Technologies
Building materials and construction account for approximately 11% of annual global CO2 emissions. In order to shrink the carbon footprint of new buildings, embodied carbon must be reduced. This course presents an overview of global emissions challenges, reviews the carbon reduction goals of green building programs, and discusses how the cement and concrete industry can use innovative CO2 mineralization technology to reduce embodied carbon while increasing performance.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
Describe the importance of lowering embodied carbon, the environmental impact of the concrete industry, and the relationship between greenhouse gas emissions and the production process of manufacturing concrete
Utilize assessment and reporting resources such as environmental product declarations (EPDs) to evaluate building materials on their environmental impact
Explain current innovations in methods and technologies that are reducing the carbon footprint of the concrete industry, and
Specify concrete made with lower emissions that will maintain performance requirements in a variety of project types and locations.
