X I A O - J U A N . . SHU "Yes, I promise" ----------------------------- Maybe touching toes (with shoes on) or being hit in the head with small pieces of chalk do not sound romantic. But for Xiao, when she was twelve, those were heart-swelling moments. Ten years could change that feeling. Twenty years even more so. Can true love survive the passage of time, or is impermanence an essential characteristic of love? What is love anyway?
S T E V E . . B U D D "Hollywood in the Holyland" ----------------------------- Steve's Israeli girlfriend drags him to Tel Aviv for a visit, and what does he do? He cancels his flight home, and spends over a year living in Israel. Suddenly everything seems to be open to question: his identity as an American, an actor, and a boyfriend. And how did he end up in a movie with Dolph Lundgren and Lou Gossett Jr.?
M O L L Y . . K E L L Y "Jesus is My Savior" ----------------------------- At 32 Molly accepted Jesus as her Savior but not in the way you think. When Jesus moved in to her apartment with her and her first love, things got complicated. When he took her place in the bedroom she got saved.
H E N R Y . . T E N E N B A U M "Attention, Fans!" ---------------------- An unlikely career change leads to the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat and painfully cold toes.
W I L L I A M . . W I N T E R S "Rocketboots to the Motherfuckin' Rescue?" ----------------------------- William didn't even want to go to his late-night shift at Louie's Cafe. But when he stood up to two guys intent on stealing seafood poboys from the restaurant, things took an unexpectedly dramatic turn and William went on the ride of -- and for -- his life. How far would yougo to save a couple of seafood poboys? Probably not as far as William went.
Stage Werx Theatre is home to The Vent storytelling series where superb comedians, acclaimed writers and "ordinary" people with extraordinary stories do just that. They vent. The stories are true. There's reason to vent. Fortunately, it's the funny kind of venting. Mostly. The theatre accommodates 70. Please arrive early for your choice of seats.
