Walter Crockett and the Wannabee Wabbits
Spurred by their record-breaking show last year at John Henry's, Walter Crockett and his crack acoustic band of hot pickers, harmony singers and occasional fiddlers storm the Hammer for a night of melodic mayhem. The Wannabee Wabbits bear a striking resemblance to the Oxymorons, who joined Walter and his late wife, Valerie, at coffeehouses and concerts for 13 years: Bob Dick on acoustic bass, Fran McConville on mandolin, Dave Dick on banjo and electric guitar, Mark Manuel on keyboards, and now Matt Cassell on percussion -- plus the Fantabulous Wabbettes: teenagers Jojo McConville and Maddie Hayman on fiddles.
The songs are in turns deeply emotional, uplifting, and humorous. Wabbit wit runs deep. (Say that five times fast!) Like all Crockett bands, the Wannabee Wabbits are deft, daft and dazzling. C'mon out!
