Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion w/ Prairie Willows!
Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion: As her name makes evident, Sarah Lee Guthrie's musical heritage runs deep: Woody Guthrie was her grandfather and Arlo is her dad. But despite her pedigree, it was only when she started tour-managing for her father that she picked up an acoustic guitar and began to play in earnest. Through Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, she met her musical mate in Johnny Irion, and together the couple has released a handful of discs, including a children's music album. Sarah Lee & Johnny return in 2013 with Chairman Meow. Recorded in October 2012 at The Loft in Chicago with producers Jeff Tweedy and Pat Sansone of Wilco, the 11-song album sets resonant melodies amid lush soundscapes that vividly evoke a range of moods, from carefree and playful to contemplative and melancholy. Guthrie and Irion collaborated in writing several of the tracks with Tweedy and Sansone, who also played on the record along with drummer Otto Hauser and bassist Charlie Rose.
