The Girl In The Freudian Slip by William F. Brown

The Girl in the Freudian Slip, a lighthearted comedy by William F. Brown, is the next offering at Glenview's intimate Oil Lamp Theater, opening January 10th.

A therapist's office hasn't been this funny since the days of The Bob Newhart Show. Mix in just a dash of The Dick Van Dyke Show and a splash of Love American Style, and you have just the prescription for laughter that this adroit comedy offers.

Staid New York psychiatrist Dr. Dewey Maugham (Steven Zeal) has been married to Paula, his fashion designer wife (Heidi Katz), for 22 years. Dr .Maugham is a specialist in "non-directional therapy" which he uses to treat such patients as the neurotic and socially awkward Mr. Wellman (Spencer Miller). But it seems the doctor has some issues of his own. Three years ago, he developed a bit of a "thing" for a beautiful and sexually emancipated patient, Barbara Leonard (Daniella Rukin). The doctor has managed to control his yearnings by channeling them into a script he's written... a "psychodrama," he calls it that he's kept hidden away from everyone.

All is well until Dewey's precocious teenage daughter Leslie (Cassandra Schiano) finds the script, thinks it's wonderful, and shares it with Dewey's colleague and family friend, Dr. Alec Rice (Eric Bays). Dr. Rice is also impressed with the script, and decides to pass it on to his literary agent -- who just happens to be the same woman who's the object of Dr. Maugham's fantasies, and the central character in his unfinished script!

As Dewey's house of cards begins to crumble, misunderstandings and hilarious mayhem build to a delightfully chaotic climax. Can the good doctor hold it all together and avoid disaster? Or will his sublimated desires bring things crashing down around him? Find out by making your own appointment with Dr. Maugham, his family and friends for this hilarious, laugh-a-minute comedy.
