Pieces Of Eight at Brüka Theatre - Dorothy Parker - Shivering & Sighing - Mary Bennett
Brüka Theatre presents a new series of short original performances in our "Pieces Of Eight" Festival November 8 10, 2013 featuring four different short pieces of theatre from our community. Each piece is up to an hour in length. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door for each show. DOORS OPEN 1/2 BEFORE CURTAIN TIME. DOROTHY PARKER SHIVERING & SIGHING - CONCIEVED AND PERFORMED BY MARY BENNETT
Synopsis: Dorothy Parker Shivering & Sighing is a one-woman show that forms a theatrical collage of Parker's poetry and short stories utilizing dramatic devices and literary slights-of-hand to lure the audience into a world imagined by Dorothy Parker. Shivering & Sighing was winner of San Francisco's Best of The SF Fringe Festival and has been performed for a variety of audiences in a variety of places.
Mary Bennett Bio: Mary is currently the Producing Director of Brüka Theatre in Reno and divides her time between Producing/Acting/Directing and working as an actor and theatre Artist in Residence throughout the West Coast teaching improvisation, movement, theatre and mask and improvisation. Training includes: American Conservatory Theatre San Francisco, Bay Area Theatre Sports, Dell Arte' International Theatre Company (Northern California & Bali, Indonesia), New York Stage & Film at Vassar College, The B Street Theatre in Sacramento and Kennedy Center training as a teaching artist. Mary has created two solo shows and SEAMS: A Theatrical Piece Of The Aids Quilt that has raised monies for local organizations and has received numerous grants and been voted best actor in Reno's News & Review nine times, twice runner up in the Nevada Arts Council Fellowship and received the 2013 Sierra Arts Foundation Fellowship. She has worked with local and regional companies including The Reno Philharmonic, The Reno Jazz Orchestra and The Sierra Nevada Ballet Bennett also artistically directs and organizes the Carson City Ghost Walk and Ghost Walking Tours.
