Perpetual e-Motion
Perpetual e-Motion has long been regarded as one of the premier innovative bands of New England contradance music in the country. Comprised of fiddler Edward Howe and guitarist John Coté, their dynamic duo has been bringing incredibly driving, captivating, and energetic music to dance halls and concert venues all across the United States. Rooted deeply within the culture of the traditionally acoustic New England, Celtic, bluegrass, French Canadian, and Southern old-time styles, the band brings in funk and jazz influences and blends the many genres together through their extensive knowledge of electronics and their unique instrumental setup. John plays an acoustic-electric Godin guitar attached to a synthesizer module, which brings an incredibly wide palette of sounds to his fingertips. In addition, John simultaneously plays the didgeridoo and provides Quebecois foot percussion. Ed plays a NS Design 5-string electric violin while implementing a BOSS RC-50 loop station to layer and orchestrate a variety of sounds from his instrument in order to complement the tunes of the band's mutual traditional background. Together, these two men bring about a sound that is as lush and vibrant as a multi-piece band, with a blend of sheer driving energy, graceful nuances, and funky riffs that captivates their audiences.
