Mosaic Dance Theater Company 10th Anniversary Concert
Mosaic Dance Theater Company celebrates ten years of performing the dance and folklore of the Mediterranean region with a spectacular program presented at the magical Martha Graham Studio Theater in New York City. Under the artistic direction of Samara, Mosaic's choreographer, the Company will perform favorite choreographies from the repertory (Raks al-Sai'id, Banat Khaleeg, Bedou Min Jebel, Red Desert), as well as exciting new pieces ranging from folklore to fusion to danse orientale. An internationally respected teacher and performer, Samara was protégé to the late master dancer/teacher/choreographer Ibrahim Farrah. As principal dancer in Mr. Farrah's Near East Dance Group, she performed in some of America's most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Also on the program is the New York premiere of an Arabian Night's tale staged in Mosaic's signature style of dance/story theater: "The Ebony Horse," adapted and directed by Morgiana Celeste Varricchio, Mosaic's Producing Artistic Director, with choreography by Samara. Joining the celebration as Special Guest Artist, is the incomparable dance legend Elena Lentini, performing an exquisite pair of solos. Featured in Mosaic's diverse program are Company dancers, Samara, Morgiana Celeste Varricchio, Nina Brewton , Kendra Dushac, Mary Susan Sinclair-Kuenning with Guest Artists Erin Pellecchia and Michael Baugh.
