Hudson Air
Hudson Air is back. This popular theatrical presentation of radio plays with live sound effects will be presented at HOH and is presented in collaboration with PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century and WGXC 90.7-FM.
The performance at HOH will be recorded live for future broadcast on Hudson's community radio station WGXC 90.7-FM. Hudson Air recreates the atmosphere of a radio broadcast studio. Audience members get a chance to close their eyes and use their imaginations the way radio audiences did for decades, or they can watch the technicians and see how old-fashioned sound effects are created.
This production of Hudson Air will focus on original and seasonal plays. It will include an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado", just in time for Halloween.
Andrew Joffe is director and foley artist. He will perform all sound effects live in front of the audience. Each season will rotate between the Hudson Opera House and PS21. Joffe has produced radio dramas for 20 years, has had three radio series distributed by National Public Radio, and has written audio drama both for radio and the internet.
