Roedde House Museum presents: Clarinet Pan Am
François Houle and Jane Hayes have been collaborating for several years to bring fascinating and unusual programs to new audiences across Canada.
Having performed together as members of Turning Point Ensemble and Vancouver New Music Ensemble, these two outstanding musicians felt the urge to explore the clarinet and piano repertoire to uncover rarely heard gems, regardless of era, genre, and style. Their unique repertoire ranges from the classics of the clarinet literature to newly commissioned works.
The duo has presented concerts throughout BC, as well as featured performances at BC Scene (National Arts Centre), Capacoa Conference and BC Touring Showcases.
Several new commissions are in the works for premières in the 2013 season, including a Canada Council Commission for a new work for clarinet, piano and electro-acoustic by Montreal-based composer Paul Dolden, and Vancouver composer Lisa Kay Miller.
This concert is part of a monthly concert series, taking place on the 2nd Sunday of each month, in the afternoon. Come at 1pm, for Tea and Tour before the concert (included in the price of the ticket), or show up right before 3pm for the concert, at your convenience!
*****PARKING******: There are 4 available spots, designated as "Roedde House Museum Guests", on a private parking lot at the back of the house (alongside Broughton St).
Other options include the parking lot at the Empire Landmark Hotel (Robson & Broughton) or street parking on Robson and in the West End.
Parking spots are scarce in the neighbourhood, so give yourself some extra time or use public transportation. (Closest Skytrain station: Burrard. We are on the #5 Robson bus route).
The show starts at 3pm sharp, don't be late!
**This concert series would not be possible without the generous support of private donors, as well as of the Vancouver Foundation and of the German Consulate in Vancouver**
