West Village Chorale Winter Concert 2008-09
The West Village Chorale continues its concert series of musical travelogues with an all-Scandinavian program on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 8:00pm. Selections will include compositions by Stenhammer, Nielsen, Grieg, Sibelius, Nystedt, Kreek, Unander, Lidholm, Soderman and Lekovitch.
Scandinavia not only has a long and rich history of choral music, it is now in the forefront of the modern choral world. Scandinavian countries are experiencing an extremely active new music scene, a huge population of enthusiastic avocational choral singers, and numerous professional choral ensembles that are the envy of the choral-music world. The West Village Chorale is excited about introducing the New York area audience to some of these wonderful composers and compositions.
