"A Christmas Carol Solo, Greensboro 1858!"
It's "Greensboro 1858" and "Thomsas Hutchinson, Englishman and Amatuer Thespian" comes to life to give his gifts and talents in a dramatic reading performance of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. "Hutchinson," the character portrayed by performing artist Al LePage, will read a shortened version of the historic one given publicly by Dickens himself!
Yes, LePage is on a mission of playing to and with audience members to bring history and great stories alive! This will quickly become evident when you first encounter him before the performance. His love of improvisation combined with a highly interactive approach means there's sure to be lots of drama and fun combined with fast action and probably some real surprises, too! Yes, since he's playful, likes to experiment and believes in seizing the moment, even he doesn't always know what's going to happen.
As Shakespeare wrote, ". . . one man in his time plays many parts . . ." and his creative use of voice should shine through as he creates all 26 characters with an interesting twist here and there -- all within the span of about one hour.
All ticket sales will benefit Family Service of the Piedmont for Clara House in Greensboro, which offers a temporary residence, along with a host of other services, for women and children escaping domestic violence.
