The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of "A Christmas Carol"
A play within a play, "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of 'A Christmas Carol'" is a hilarious assault on the beloved Dickens classic, Farndale style. The spoof is written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin, Jr. and is being directed by Randy G. Powell. It runs Fridays & Saturdays at 8 p.m. November 15December 7. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. on Nov. 17 & 24 and Dec. 1 & 8.
In a festive mood, the ladies' dramatic society stages a version of "A Christmas Carol" that is so bad, it's good. Spurred on by the wild enthusiasm of stage-manager Gordon, the ladies portray a dizzying array of characters from the Dickens favorite (and a few that aren't) that are sure to screw up Scrooge. Entrances and lines are blown, scenery and costumes failanything that can go wrong, will go wrong. The ladies also engineer some novel audience participation while bravely contending with an intrusive PA system. They even manage to wrap their vocal cords and feet around two original, show stopping songs. Anyone who is tired of "A Christmas Carol" will LOVE this version.
Tickets for "Farndale" are $16 for adults or $14 for seniors/students/military.
The theater is located at 225 Iverson St. in Poulsbo. More information at jewelboxpoulsbo.org or (360)697-3183.
