E4FC's National Educator Conference
Do you work with undocumented students?

Keynote Speaker: Cesar Cruz, Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education
Special Closing Panel: The Future of Immigration Jose Antonio Vargas, Journalist & Co-Founder of Define American Aarti Kohli, Principal, Kohli Strategic Consulting Ju Hong, ASPIRE member & E4FC Scholar
Since last year's Educator Conference, we've seen tremendous movement on federal, state and local levels! Deferred Action has offered over 450,000 undocumented young people nationwide work authorization and protection from deportation. Both the U.S. Senate and House have introduced comprehensive immigration reform bills. Twenty states now offer in-state tuition to undocumented students and/or DACA beneficiaries. California joined four other states in disbursing state-based financial aid to undocumented students. And, just this fall, California signed laws to limit interaction with immigration enforcement, provide driver's licenses to undocumented Californians and allow undocumented people to enter the CA State Bar to practice law! None of this would have been possible without the tireless advocacy of undocumented young people and the dedication of their educators and allies!
The challenge now for educators and allies is:
-How do we help undocumented students access these opportunities and resources? -What can educators and allies do to build institutional change and regional support? -How do we support other states outside California in creating, advocating for, and implementing similar policies?
Our hope is to provide educators and allies with the knowledge, connections and tools necessary to build support within their institutions, communities and regions.
This conference is planned in collaboration with UC Berkeley's Undocumented Student Program & Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
