2009 Henry Benefit: See Listen Taste Feel
ONLINE TICKET SALES END AT 8AM ON JANUARY 31, 2009!!
The Henry Art Gallery is honored to work with Berlin-based Danish artist Jeppe Hein in the creation of See Listen Taste Feel.
Part installation, part dinner, part dance party, this all immersive art experience will take place in a warehouse space in South Lake Union that has been altered under Hein's creative direction and leadership. In his installations and sculptures, Hein challenges traditional expectations of the art-viewing experience, often presenting unexpected surprises. In an effort to explore the relationship between audiences and works of art, spectators and guests are invited to be participants. Interaction is a distinctive element of his work, and the viewer plays a vital role. See Listen Taste Feel will offer a culinary, social, interactive, and aesthetic experience like no other... making this Henry benefit art event an evening not to be missed!
Jeppe Hein's work has recently been featured at Western Bridge, and the artist is currently developing a new project for Seattle's 4Culture, creating an artwork on top of the Tashiro Kaplan Building that has the potential to become a downtown landmark. His "Mirror Labyrinth", Commissioned by the Contemporary Art Gallery will be unveiled this winter in Vancouver, B.C.
Hein studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in Copenhagen and the Stadel Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste in Frankfurt. His recent exhibitions include ICA Boston (2008);Sculpture Center, New York (2007); Tate Modern, London (2007); The Curve, Barbican Art Centre, London (2007); Hayward Gallery, London (2006-2008); Liverpool Biennale (2006); Centre Georges Pompidou Paris (2005); MOCA, Los Angeles (2005); P.S.1.
