Carolina Veterans Weekend Concert
The Dare County Arts Council in partnership with the newly-established Dare County Veterans Advisory Council will host Carolina Veterans Weekend, a celebration of veterans and their families, expressed through the arts.
The weekend event will begin with a concert event on Friday, November 15th at Roanoke Island Festival Park featuring local musical artists Molasses Creek and Jonny Waters & Company and a public reading by N.C. Poet Laureate Joseph Bathanti (pictured). The concert is sponsored by the Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Arts Series. Professor Joseph Bathanti is North Carolina's seventh poet laureate. Upon his appointment to the post, he announced that his signature project as poet laureate would be to work with veterans and their families, to honor their sacrifice and to help them tell their stories.
