Totem Star Lu'au @ Youngstown!
Aloha! Please join us Saturday November 16th, from 6-9pm at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, for a Lu'au fundraising party to benefit Totem Star's upcoming youth music programming at Youngstown.
Tickets include dinner and drinks, as well as a full evening of performances including music from Totem Star co-founders Daniel Pak and Thaddeus Turner, youth poets/musicians, the Kanikapila Ukulele Ensemble, and a hula troupe.
Chef David Dekker, executive chef at Safeco Field and Centerplate, will provide the menu: teriyaki chicken, kalua pig, salmon, salad, fruit, rice, sweet potato, haupia, and poi mochi. Beer provided by Pyramid Brewing for those 21+ (please bring ID).
About Totem Star Totem Star is a non-profit multimedia, mentorship, and social justice education organization based in Seattle. Since 2010 they have served over 120 youth through partnerships with the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative, Neighborhood House, and Seattle Parks and Recreation. Proceeds from the Lu'au will support Totem Star classes at Youngstown in 2014, and the rejuvenation of the Youngstown recording studio.
About Youngstown The Youngstown Cultural Arts Center hosts groundbreaking youth arts programming and is a widely recognized model for comprehensive community engagement. Located in the diverse Delridge Neighborhood, the historic building houses 36 units of low-income artist housing, commercial office space for arts-based nonprofits, and rental spaces available to arts and cultural organizations and the general public for performances, classes, meetings, and gatherings.
