CREEK RIVER STRING BAND & DANIELLE MIRAGLIA AT SANDYWOODS
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2013 - CREEK RIVER STRING BAND with special guest DANIELLE MIRAGLIA
7:30 pm, doors open 7 pm BYOB & food allowed $12 advance, $15 at the door
The CREEK RIVER STRING BAND delivers an energetic and eclectic mix of bluegrass, country, folk, old-time, Tex-Mex, Celtic, blues, rock, and ragtime music. Or, as they like to say, fresh-baked roots music. This six-piece acoustic band features guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, accordion, and bass, with three voices balancing out the strings and bellows. They play songs that will make you tap your feet and that highlight the individual talents and interests of the band members. In any given set, you will hear originals, bluegrass standards, country waltzes, smokin' fiddle tunes, a few spicy Tex-Mex numbers, and a folksy ballad or two.
Kara Kulpa (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, vocals), Jeremy Majewski (banjo), Kim Patch (fiddle), Stroker Rogovin (accordion, vocals), Eric Smalley (bass), and Doug Turnbull (mandolin, guitar, vocals).
DANIELLE MIRAGLIA comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson, an infectious stomp-box rhythm, and harmonica. Her tunes range from heartfelt to socially conscious and will move both your heart and hips. Danielle's latest release "Box of Troubles" is a bare bones expression of all these attributes, exploring the highs and lows that life has to offer. It has already received rave reviews.
Acoustic Root says "Danielle Miraglia's guitar work keeps Delta traditions alive. Her steady thumb and playing style trace a direct line to the blues of the field and chicken shacks. Vocally, Danielle's voice digs in, twisting within the delivery, seeming to break but more likely soaring before the fall. 'Box of Troubles' balances good times with the bad, her characters roles' defined and believable."
