The Educated Eater: The Future of Dairy Farming in the Northeast
From organic milk co-ops to Greek yogurt production to artisanal cheese-making, the Northeast has long been a leader in the dairy industry. This panel will explore the options, challenges and considerations dairy farmers must take into account to keep their businesses strong and growing. By examining commodity pricing versus direct-to-customer sales, the marketplace for value-added products, and ways in which farmers are working to ensure their farms' long-term viability, this panel of experts will address the myriad questions behind the regionally produced bottles of milk, pints of ice cream, yogurt, butter and cheese we love to eat.
