ART OF STAGE (PREP & PRACTICE)101 Workshop Series
WORKSHOP LOCATIONS WILL BE IN PROVIDENCE, and VARY PER WORKSHOP.
So you have taken a dance workshop, a burlesque class, a theater workshop and a few important details have been hurried through OR you've attended a show or few and are wondering how to get involved....Well, this MonDate series gives us all a chance to get a little bit more intimate as we develop skills that will take us all to the next level as entertainers, including:
- how to fake a smokey eye with just an eye liner and add contours where they never were - how to own a stage (and audience) with a wink and a smile - how to woo your backstage company and change in the blink of an eye - AND even how to be the show BETWEEN acts!
The line-up of instructors is dynamite! Meet them below. Let your friends know, and get ready to get cozy! MonDates in November are going to turn that first day of the week into your favorite!
4th - BASIC STAGE MAKEUP with BRANDON WARD, original makeup artist for Providence Pin-Up, and celebrity not-so-secret weapon! 6-8pm - $25 Bring your cleanser and makeup, and hold on tight! You won't believe the skills that you will walk away from this workshop with. You will leave prepared to be positively glamorous from day to day or (when amplified) on stage! Brandon will help you assess the products in your collection to see which will help you with basic tricks of the trade from attaining glowing/finished skin and accentuated contours, to perfectly lush lips and false lash application.
11th - GIVING GOOD FACE with BETTYSIOUX TAILOR, premier burlesque queen and founding member of RI Burlesque Academy! 6-7:30pm - $15 @ Suite Tart We have all been there, whether watching a show or performing... It's the moment of the "whoopsie face" after a mistake or the blank stare trying to recall lines or choreography. And then you glance over and see the performer who looks like they are having the time of their life (they probably are) and you fall in love. How do you choreograph in those winks, smiles, ooohs, ahhhs, and aha moments? Find out with Providence's own stage siren, Bettysioux!
18th - BACKSTAGE "bedside" MANOR AND QUICK CHANGES with KRISTEN MINSKY, Director of Chifferobe and The TropiGals! 6-7:30pm - $15 Whether you are in a rush from work to play or performing 3 dances in 15 minutes, you will learn how to set, prep, and switch over you garments in this workshop! Attendees will receive a list of suggested attire to bring to practice the layout process. Also, learn a few tips and tricks more for fostering a fantastic backstage environment...one that will make you an asset to a show onstage AND off! This workshop can be helpful from performing to bridal prep and beyond!
25th - STAGE KITTENING. WE NEED YOU! with BETTYSIOUX TAILOR 6-7:30 - $15 The best stage shows go on seamlessly. In theater, there are stage hands. In variety shows, they are "stage kittens". Without the guarantee of a curtain, it's nice to see that the show is uninterrupted, from holding up cards with the names of performers between acts, to assisting a magician, setting up props, and picking up garments that have been shed, stage kittens often enjoy more stage time than any other act! Kittening is also a great way to meet traveling performers and to be involved without necessarily having to rehearse, while still dressing the part and keeping audiences energized. Both RIBA and Chifferobe are often in need of a kitten or two for shows. If you love the stage but don't know how to get involved, it could be a stepping stone or it could even be your calling!!!
