Emily Day Quartet with Mike Olmos
Emily Day, an accomplished vocalist and arranger, pays tribute to the best of the best - Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. When you think of great jazz vocalists, these two top the list. Ella with her impeccable tone is often referred to as the Queen of Jazz, while Sarah with her sultry voice is called the Divine One. Emily, with her style, range and pure tone, plays great tribute to both.
Emily will be accompanied by special guest, Mike Olmos - one of the most sought after jazz trumpeters. Add to that mix an all-star band - Dan Zemelman on piano, Greg Wyser Pratte on drums, and Mike Bordelon on bass.
Emily Day is a Jazz Search West finalist and has been an avid volunteer at the Sound Room. With one foot in the past and one ear to the future, "Emily Day is a classic for a modern age", says the Seven Days Burlington Independent Newspaper. Currently based in San Francisco, she was raised in Chicago and Vermont then trained in New York and Europe. Emily has given performances across the United States and has been a featured performer in the United Kingdom. Although mostly known as a jazz vocalist, her experience performing in a variety of musical styles has diversified her portfolio and added depth to her sound.
