Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre's 2013-2014 Season premieres on October 25 with the longest-running production of any kind in the world, the classic musical The Fantasticks. Performances begin Friday, October 25 and continue through Sunday, November 3. The Fantasticks is one of the American musical theatre's most enduringly popular musicals. It ran off-Broadway for 46 straight years, 1960-2002, then re-opened in 2006 and is still running in New York today. It begins as a tale of young true first love, as next-door-neighbors Matt and Luisa, grown up together, fall for each other. Their fathers approve, and conspire to bring them closer together. Once the young man and woman learn of their fathers' approval, they reject their dads' plan and set off on their separate adventures to experience the world. Removed from the comfort of home, they are individually hurt by the world, and left with a bitter taste of disillusionment. Matt and Luisa eventually find their way back to each other, with a wiser, more mature and deeper love for one another. The Fantasticks is charming love story with magical illusions and memorable music that has resonated with audiences for half a century, with classic songs like "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain." LAPC Theatre's production of The Fantasticks is directed by Robert Cucuzza, with musical direction by Cassie Nickols. The cast features David Colville, Michelle Hallbauer, Michael Hovance, Samantha Labrecque, Mark Lewis, Van McDuff, Mark Needle and Ondřej Pšenička. Scenic design is by Michael Gend, with lighting design by Ellie Rabinowitz, costume design by Eileen Gizienski and sound design by Edward Salas. The Fantasticks is produced for LAPC Theatre by Michael Sande. The Fantasticks opens on Friday, October 25 at 8pm, and continues on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8pm, Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2pm, Friday, Nov. 1 at 8pm, Saturday, Nov. 2 at 8pm and Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2pm.
