Chucklefck Presents A CD Recording with Ryan Dalton
On October 25th, Stand up comedian Ryan Dalton will be taping for his new comedy album, "To Be Announced" at Reddstone in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ryan is a regular the nationally syndicated, "Bob and Tom Radio Show". His 1st comedy album, "You Were Funny Too" is on rotation on Sirius XM's comedy channels. Ryan made his television debut on the third season of Comedy Central's "LIVE AT GOTHAM." In 2011, Ryan made his first USO tour of Qatar and Afghanistan. Ryan wrote for Comedy Central's "Roast of Charlie Sheen" in 2011. Ryan took the grand prize at the 2011 World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas and finished as a finalist in the 2011 Boston Comedy Festival. In 2012, Ryan finished as a finalist in the 2012 Laughing Skull Festival. He was chosen to participate in the 2012 Great American Comedy Festival. Ryan was also chosen to perform in the prestigious "New Faces" showcase at the 2012 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Ryan made his television acting debut on TBS's "Sullivan and Son". In 2013, Ryan won "Best of the Midwest" honors at Gilda's Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, MI
Ryan is a Northeast Ohio native. He would like to say "Cleveland" native but he knows better. "I grew up in Kent, Ohio. I graduated from Kent State University then I moved to Akron. From Akron I moved to Cleveland. From Cleveland I moved to New Jersey. Finally I moved back to Cleveland. I now live in beautiful Lakewood, Ohio with my wife."
Ryan has been a touring comic for 10 years. He likes to think of himself as Cleveland comedian but he is never here because of his tour schedule, "I've been touring for 10 years and that means a lot of time on the road. I like to think of myself as a local Cleveland comedian but I am never here. Every time I come back to comedy shows in Cleveland there are so many new faces. It's awesome that the comedy scene keeps growing the way that it is.
Ryan chose the Reddstone in Cleveland's Battery Park because of its size. "The Reddstone is an AMAZING venue for comedy because it is extremely intimate. You can probably fit 55-60 people in their before it becomes standing room only. I've always believed comedy is better in smaller venues. It's way more personal. Ramon Rivas has a had a lot of success at Reddstone producing comedy. He has brought amazing comedians to perform there (Amy Schumer, Rory Scovel, Kyle Kinane, to name a few) and they have all had positive things to say about it."
Rivas, who's become Cleveland's eminent latino through his constant performances at Hilarities and hosting Chucklefck shows and all of the sandwich places in between. "It's been great giving people in the city something good to go and spend their time and money on by producing shows at these venues. When I started Ryan was one of the performers who showed that it's possible to this at an efficient national level based out of Cleveland."
Chucklefck has come to be synonymous with quality comedy in Cleveland. Rivas produces and performs at 2-4 of the shows a week. "Comedians just need an audience and some great things can happen. Reddstone has had some huge national acts as well as people performing for the 1st time ever (at the Tuesday amateur open mic) on the same stage. The one constant has been the audience. When that room is packed it's electric. When we did the Just For Laughs audition tapings (which led to Mike Polk making it to the festival in 2013) that Dalton hosted almost 100 people were packed upstairs, extended out into the hallway. People who showed up late weren't able to work past the crowd to get in, it was great."
Priced right (shows range from free - $20) with most venues offering food/drink specials for during the show they've become an affordable and reliable option for entertainment most nights of the week. Ramon is excited for another CD recording to take place at Reddstone. "It's such a flexible room, we've filmed a movie special up there (makefunmovie.com) and Beth Stelling recorded SWEET BETH upstairs for Rooftop Comedy which was plugged on her national TV debut on CONAN. I enjoy being a curator and kind of knowing who people should be checking out almost as much as I enjoy performing, so it's been a joy bringing that mindset to building up the comedy scene in Cleveland to a national level."
