Cafe Scientifique
December Topic: Science, Poverty and Lion Conservation in Africa Acclaimed lion researcher and University of Minnesota biologist Craig Packer is internationally known for his research on the evolution of the lion society, diseases effecting lions, and the impacts of trophy hunting on large carnivores. His recently established non-government organization "Savannas Forever" aims to assist international aid agencies in improving public health, alleviating poverty, and sustaining natural resources in rural Tanzania. Packer will talk about the project and his efforts to promote more harmonious and sustainable relations between lions and the people of the region.
