Description: In a contemporary engineering environment, where simulation plays an ever increasing role in the development and certification of new aircraft designs, the need for flight testing is still very much in demand, but often misunderstood. Matt's presentation will focus on providing insights to the flight test world, including an overview of Bombardier Flight Test Center operations, and perhaps bust a few myths about the flight test profession along the way.
Speaker Bio: Matt Woloshyn is currently the Flight Test Chief and Project Flight Test Engineer for the Bombardier Aerospace Global 7000/8000 business jet development program. He has 25 years of experience in aircraft development and certification, many of those with Bombardier Flight Test Center (BFTC). As a Flight Test Engineer, he has flown on over 20 aircraft types, both land and sea, for civilian, military, research, and special- mission applications, logging approximately 1500 hours of airborne test time in those experimental aircraft. Besides Bombardier, he has also worked on flight test programs in collaboration with organizations such as the Canadian Air Force, Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Lincoln Laboratory, and NASA. Matt has held a Flight Test DAR appointment from Transport Canada, and managed an aviation consulting business for seven years before joining the Global 7000/8000 program. He holds a B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida where he received his initial flight test training, and an MBA from Cornell University in New York. He is a licensed pilot, flying recreationally since the age of 19, and is the recipient of two flying awards.
