Hank Roberts with Wingnut
For the past 44 years improvisational cellist Hank Roberts has been creating new sounds on the cello. His rhythmic, harmonic, emotional and timbrel approach to cello makes him a unique voice in the world of new music. He collaborates currently with Bill Frisell, Hal Willner, Time Berne, and Andy Summers and in addition to his own 12 discs, has recorded Frisell, John Zorn, Joey Baron, Mark Ribot, Marilyn Crispell and Marty Erlich. http://www.hankrobertsmusic.com/
Over the past 4 or 5 years Hank has been a guest performer with Wingnut, and is now a "certified" member.
Wingnut formed in 1997 in Ithaca, New York. It's the trio of Michael Stark on Hammond organ, rhodes, & microsynth, Walt Lorenzut on electric bass & gadgets, and Zaun Marshburn on drums. Stark, Lorenzut, and Marshburn are all extraordinarily versatile instrumentalists who participate in a wide range of musical projects, currently touring and performing both in the US and internationally. Defying strict categorization, the band's compositions are a blend of genres...jazz, cinematic soundscapes, dub, blues, rock, middle eastern, jungle, funk, & hip-hop. http://www.myspace.com/wingnutjazz
