Cay Wiant Memorial Storytelling Event
On Sunday, November 3 at 6pm Creative Cauldron, in collaboration with the Village Improvement and Preservation Society of Falls Church, will present the second Cay Wiant Memorial Storytelling Event. Supported by a grant from the Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS), the event is free to the public and intended as a gift to the citizens of Falls Church who, like Cay, appreciate the art, beauty and value of storytelling.
Cay was a longtime teacher in the Falls Church City Schools as well as a member of the Board of Directors of VPIS. Cay was also a wonderfully talented storyteller, and performed in numerous venues both in and outside the City.
In her honor, Creative Caudron and VPIS will present "Tales from the Pacific Islands," an interactive performance featuring professional actors joined by Vivian Takafuji and her Polynesian dance troupe, Ta'ata Roiroi. The show highlights the stories, music and culture of Tahiti, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Using imaginative storytelling, dance and the inventive puppets of Creative Cauldron's scenic designer Margie Jervis, performers will share ancient tales that reveal how fire was kept on earth, the true identity of the face that is smiling in the moon, and why you must not ever aggravate a frog! Although primarily designed as an adult evening, children, too will love the performance.
Admission is free but reservations are recommended
