Bull Game (winner loses action figures) is a DWZ world premiere performance event conceived, written and directed by Thomas Riccio.
The Bull Game is an entertainment, competition, ritual, and sacrifice. In our world of diminishing resources and increasing populations, a hypercompetitiveness is taking shape. A fight for success and survival is being waged in the world. It is an "adapt or die" time and the pace is accelerating. Are you ready? Do you have what it takes?
The Bull Game (winner loses action figures) welcomes its fans (aka the audience) to a competitive eventthey are assigned sides, arranged according to their ability to participate in the competition. In this world we must all be ready to compete.
The Bull Game is awash with heroes, athletes, cheerleaders, a coach and color commentators, and of course, you the Fans! The Bull Game must be played in order to maintain order, keeping the ritual cycle of super athlete-celebrity-entertainer-entreprenuer-action figure, spinning. Bruno the Bull, the reigning champion, is matched with Conrad the Condor in a fight for survival. Do they, and are we, playing the Bull Game, or is it playing us?
Writer-Director Riccio has worked extensively in the area of indigenous and ritual performance, and with Bull game seeks to dissolve the façade of modern sports, games, and hyper competition to reveal the primordial instinctthe devolution of civility, intelligence, and compassionthat increasingly bleeds into our everyday lives.
The Bull Game (winner loses action figures) will be performed in an expansive warehouse in the heart of Trinity Groves, West Dallas. It is a temporary autonomous space of emptiness, transition, and post-post modern ritual. Do you have what it takes?
The Bull Game ensemble includes: Stephanie Cleghorn, Danielle Fletcher, Abel Flores, Brad Hennigan, David Jeremiah, Christine Martin, Lori McCarty, Becki McDonald, and Ilknur Ozgur.
The production team includes: Scot Gresham-Lancaster (sound), Justin Locklear (production design), Shelby-Allison Hibbbs (dramaturge), Christine Martin (choreography), Alisa Levy (images), and Lori McCarty (producer/props).
Dead White Zombies is a Dallas-based post disciplinary performance and media group that places an emphasis on new, experimental, and collectively created work that defies categories and conventions. We simply do things the way we want to do it, where, and how because we don't know what else to do.
