Produced by Hollins Theatre Institute and Mill Mountain Theatre as part of the 2021 Winter Festival of New Works
M.FA. thesis play written by Erica Zephir. Directed by Breana C. Venable. In this memory play, narrator Mary tells the story about returning home to her mother to escape spousal abuse. As she searches for happiness and fulfillment, she encounters many adversities, and the aura of her husband haunts her.
The Magic Stick deals with spousal and familial abuse which may be triggering to some. We encourage everyone to always listen, love, and support victims of abuse.
